Central U.P. beer distributor is proud to play a role in craft beer’s continued success story
NEGAUNEE, Mich. – Pike Distributors Inc., which distributes a number of craft brands across the central and eastern Upper Peninsula, applauded craft brewers for their continued growth in Michigan and beyond. The Brewers Association recently released data showing craft brewers, as defined by the association, increased production by six percent over the last year and now represent 12.3 percent of the beer market.
“As an independent and locally owned distributor, we pride ourselves in working hand-in-glove with small businesses, like craft brewers, helping them grow and succeed,” said Jack Ketvirtis, vice president of Pike Distributors Inc. “Michigan’s craft brewers are creating innovative, style-bending beers and we’re thrilled to help get their products in the hands of beer lovers throughout Michigan.”
The number of breweries operating in the United States is at an all-time high. In Michigan, the state boasts over 200 breweries and brewpubs, which makes Michigan the fifth largest beer producer in the country.
“The further a beer travels from where it is brewed, the harder it can be for that brewery to tell its story, which is where we come in,” said Ketvirtis. “We help tell that story through our committed sales representatives, drivers and special events team.”
In 2016, the number of breweries in the U.S. grew to 5,301 breweries, including: 3,132 microbreweries, 1,916 brewpubs, 186 regional craft breweries and 67 large brewers.
“Our state’s beer industry is poised to keep growing and launch even more breweries and brewpubs through a system that promotes fairness and a level playing field,” said Ketvirtis.
