The week leading up to the Super Bowl is one of the busiest stretches of the year for Michigan’s beer and wine distributors
YPSILANTI, Mich. – Employees at O&W, Inc. are putting in extra hours this week to ensure retailers are well-stocked for Super Bowl LI on Sunday.
“We have delivered 89,312 cases of beer this week leading into one of the biggest beer holidays of the year, the Super Bowl,” said Kit Wanty-Lambert, vice president of marketing at O&W, Inc. “We are all hands on deck, guaranteeing full shelves and tap handles at bars, restaurants and stores across our distribution area. As a local business employing more than 180 people, we pride ourselves on hiring the most talented people to work with small businesses, like craft brewers, and local retailers, to help them compete on a level playing field and grow their businesses.”
Thanks to Michigan’s independent and locally-owned beer and wine distributors, the state now boasts over 200 breweries and brewpubs – and is poised to keep growing.
“We’re proud to help promote growth, choices and competition by working hand-in-glove with breweries across the nation, from our own great state of Michigan and close to home,” said Wanty-Lambert. “We look forward to helping breweries and retailers succeed today and in the future.”
“To add to the spirit of the Super Bowl, many of our breweries are turning to social media to add a little fun and flavor for their consumers,” said Wanty-Lambert. “Keep an eye out for beer pairing suggestions, party pictures and a Miller Lite Snapchat filter, available beginning Saturday, Feb. 4, so you can get your game face on.”
Michigan is currently the fifth-largest producer of beer in the country, the tenth largest producer of wine, and is fourth and fifth, respectively, in hop and wine grape production.
