Bell’s iconic summer ale hits store shelves and tap handles on March 26
Kalamazoo, Mich. – Paw Paw Wine Distributors, the local distributor of Bell’s Brewery products since 1989, has been pulling double-duty this week to deliver close to 10,000 cases and kegs to over 700 participating retailers across the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek area in preparation for Oberon Day on Monday, March 26.
“Oberon release day is big in Michigan and beyond. As a locally owned family business, we are especially proud to work side by side with Bell’s Brewery, another locally owned family business, to provide adequate supplies of Oberon to our area stores and restaurants” said Todd McDonald with Paw Paw Wine Distributors. “Our employees have been working diligently with our retail partners to coordinate special event keg tappings and floor displays in advance of the big day.”
Oberon, an American Wheat Ale, is one of the most recognizable craft beers in Michigan. It was originally released under the name Solsun, which was eventually changed to Oberon in 1998.
“This daylong celebration of Oberon signals the unofficial start to spring, baseball season and all the joys that come with warmer weather in the Great Lakes state,” McDonald said. “This release day and the entire week have evolved into quite a celebration for Oberon, which will remain available throughout the summer until September.”
Several Kalamazoo area locations will be featuring Oberon release parties, including: Shakespeare’s, Old Burdick’s, The Hopcat, The Union, Taco Bob’s, Harvey’s, The Greentop, The Old Dog, Louis, and a Four Roses Pairing Dinner in Plainwell on Wednesday.
Oberon is available in 6-pack and 12-pack bottles, 12-pack cans, 4-pack cans, and of course on draft. Some Bars are tapping Oberon at midnight on March 26 and many others will be featuring it Monday afternoon and throughout this first week of spring. You can find a full list of special events here.
