Michigan wine and spirits distributor part of state’s flourishing wine industry
DETROIT — Great Lakes Wine & Spirits (GLWAS), the largest wine and spirits distributor in Michigan, is sharing a toast with wine lovers across the state on National Drink Wine Day, which is celebrated yearly on Feb. 18.
“As the largest distributor of alcoholic beverages in Michigan, our entire team at Great Lakes Wine & Spirits is proud to raise a glass alongside wine lovers across the state on National Drink Wine Day,” said Lewis Cooper III, co-CEO of GLWAS. “National Drink Wine Day presents a great opportunity to pour a glass of your favorite wine and celebrate its important role in history, health and relationships.”
Thanks to Michigan's independent wine distributors, like GLWAS, our state is among the Top 10 states in wine production with more than 140 wineries. Great Lakes Wine and Spirits employs more than 800 people across the state and distributes wine and spirits to every county in Michigan through its warehouses in Highland Park, Detroit, Gaylord, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Marquette, Traverse City and Saginaw.
“We pride ourselves in working hand-in-glove with wineries big and small right here in Michigan, across the country and around the world to help them succeed today and in the future,” said Syd Ross, co-CEO of GLWAS. “National Drink Wine Day is a great opportunity for wine enthusiasts to toast their favorite winemaker or try something new.”
Michigan’s wine industry generates $5.4 billion for the state’s economy annually. On top of ranking in the Top 10 for wine production, Michigan is also the fourth-largest grape growing state in the country. Michigan is poised to keep growing and launch even more new wineries through a system that promotes fairness and a level playing field.
