Michigan Beverage Wholesalers Consortium

Drug and alcohol abuse costs U.S. companies billions of dollars annually. Ensuring that your current and potential employees are tested not only helps prevent and detect substance abuse in the workplace but also keeps you compliant with DOT requirements—ultimately saving your company money.

The Michigan Beverage Wholesalers Consortium (MBWC) is designed specifically to meet the DOT compliance needs of MB&WWA members. By managing a pool of drivers from all enrolled member companies, the MBWC conducts quarterly random selections for testing. Our Association staff, along with our third-party administrator, handles the entire process, so you don’t have to worry about the logistics.

With MBWC, you receive a complete, convenient, and cost-effective solution for mandated drug and alcohol testing. For a single monthly fee per enrolled employee, you get everything you need to stay compliant, plus easy access to additional tests, such as pre-employment and post-accident screenings.

  • Easy-to-use reference manual

  • Enrollment in state-wide employee selection pool (Consortium)

  • Computerized random selection service

  • Convenient collection site set-up

  • Breath alcohol testing

  • Model policy statement on drug and alcohol use and testing as required by DOT

  • Employee guide to a drug-free workplace

  • DOT required medical review of drug test results by SAMHSA certified Medical Review Officer (MRO)

  • DOT required records data

  • Quarterly report on the status of each driver’s CDL, DOT physical, and MVR renewal dates

  • Optional NON-DOT testing (including random, pre-employment, etc.)

Participating in the MBWC’s drug and alcohol testing program has been a game-changer. It's streamlined our testing process, saving us time and ensuring compliance. Financially, it's been a smart investment, helping us avoid penalties and prioritize safety. The staff's support has been invaluable, making the whole compliance process smooth and hassle-free. We highly recommend the MBWC for any distributor looking to stay on top of regulations while optimizing operations.
